Dear
Discovery School Community,
I
am writing today to inform you about an opportunity to provide your students direct
access to university and college admissions professionals during an upcoming Council
of International Schools university admissions tour.
The
CIS Office of Higher Education exists to create linkages between CIS’s higher
education Members and CIS’s secondary school Membership, the college counseling
community, and prospective undergraduates and their families. As part of this
objective, CIS conducts tours to bring university admissions professionals to
member schools to inform and advise your students and professional staff about
higher education options and the admissions process. Our university and college
membership currently includes almost 500 institutions from around the
world.
Our
Latin AmericaCommittee is comprised of a group of experienced university admissions
professionals who volunteer their time to plan and direct recruitment
activities. To this end, a member of the Latin America Committeehas been
working with a local school on creating a fabulous opportunity for your
students to meet with 33 University representatives from all over the US. The host school will be reaching out to your
community to invite you to the university fair held at the American School of Tegucigalpa on September13th,
2012. Please contact
Mrs. Ivonne Casco to confirm if any parents will be accompanying students to
the fair.
At
this event, your students will have personal interaction with the participants
(all of whom are admissions professionals from a variety of post-secondary, CIS
member institutions) to discuss their academic achievements and goals. All of
the represented institutions provide high-quality, undergraduate education with
a diversity of curricular and co-curricular opportunities.
The
tourdirector is Virginia Groves, Assistant Director for Office of International
Student Services (OISS) at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.
We
are pleased to bring a CIS university tour to your school community and hope
that we may gain your support and assistance to help colleagues at our member
colleges and universities learn more about your school program, community and
students to benefit us all.
Best
regards,
Jane Larsson, Executive Director
